Lets Improve the Job Contingency for Post Secondary Students

Educator

Think of Job Futures as a guide for constructing a curriculum and/or supporting students' efforts in getting jobs upon graduation. (Like with the Engineering School at Syracuse University preparing to guide students into future jobs related to Micron's investment in a nearby semiconductor hub.) At a minimum, define course or training materials in skills and Skill Points (to complement the current credit hour system) so students match the learning gains with what appears on the Job Labels.

Some ways to support Job Futures as a Post Secondary Educator:

  • Use Skill Syllabus (Course Label) to define course tasks, activities, and projects in skills and Skill Points.
  • Provide an opening for local employers with Skills Gaps or talent needs to signal their needs with Job Futures (a series of Job Labels).
  • Mentor students who propose a Job Future with guidance on how to acquire the skills or earn the necessary credentials.

This is only an initial interpretation. There will be more...
